Making your own Italian sausage is pretty simple, and you get to avoid the fillers and preservatives found in many store bought sausages.
Fennel gives the sausage its signature flavor, and Italian seasoning makes it easy to get the herbal notes right.
A little maple syrup rounds out the flavor and helps the sausage brown nicely in the skillet.
